The Inspiring Tale Of Dwight D. Eisenhower Brought To Life

Paul Johnson is an acclaimed historian who yet again brings us another tale of an influential personality whose legacy endures even today. You can read the inspiring tale on Vibant, an eBook reading site. The book, called Eisenhower: A Life, follows the rise of Dwight D. Eisenhower through the ranks of military all the way to becoming the thirty-fourth President of the United States.

Johnson follows Eisenhower through his modest beginnings as a child in Kansas, his college life at West Point, and his rapid ascension to the General status during his military years. The whole journey from a military General to the Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe during World War II is covered in the book. Eisenhower took the presidential seat from Harry Truman in 1952 and served two consecutive terms as the Commander-In Chief. The book explores in depth, his volatile relationship with then Vice President Richard Nixon, his stand on Cold War, and the Civil Rights Movement.

Johnson remarks how when Eisenhower left the Office, reluctantly leaving the seat to John F. Kennedy, he was concerned about the future. He warned all his delegates and the people of a looming military-industrial complex that existed then and still exists to date. His skills as an excellent orator and the ability to manage both the budget and Congress were in par with his tactical abilities.
